About my Camaro
Okay where do i begin, i drive as the title states a Victory Red Camaro. The name (Santa's Sleigh) is derived from where i just moved from less than 1 month ago after 22 years in North Pole Alaska (Just About Farthest North You Can Go).
I recently moved back to Oak Harbor Washington where i grew up for awhile as a kid and joined the United States Navy in 1987.
My passion for Chevy started pretty much when i was big enough to go out to the shop and help my father with his race cars one of which was a 72 Camaro. My father raced 1/4 mile dirt track and eventually and lastly raced U.S.A.C. Sprint Cars and won several championships in the early to mid 70's. I have never owned anything but General Motors my whole life.
Back last year in September my father got real sick when his liver started failing, my father being the tough guy let us all know his time was limited and his chances of a transplant were minimal. He just stated he wouldn't stop drinking knowing he had no chance for a transplant. He told me in the many conversations we had together in his last month alive, "about GM cars of course" that he really wanted to get the new "5th Gen Camaro". Well my father passed away on October 10, 2010 and he never got a chance to fulfill that dream of his, he was just to sick to do anything in his last month alive.
So i decided when i retire this year i am going to get me one in tribute to my father and vicariously live his dream for him!
When i moved i thought of no better place than to place my fathers ashes and a T-Shirt i had Air Brushed in his memoriam in my garage with the Camaro, i also plan on getting a few Air Brushed items in his honor inside the camaro when i get close to being done with my mods. My father was and is my hero who taught me the values i live with to this day, he is a Veteran of Vietnam and a 3 time recipient of the Purple Heart.
My fathers passion for racing spilled over to me except in a different medium, i raced snow machines professionally, and i am the reigning 4 time Alaska State Ice Drag's Champion in 600', 1000' & 1/4 ice drags. I am also a 2 time Veteran's class Sno-X State Champion! (Photos posted on page 3)
